About Baywalk - Frequently Asked Questions -
Why Won't You Call Referrals?
Hint: Please Have Them Call Us!

I have a friend, spouse, client, etcetera that really needs a website. Will you call them?
No, but we are more than happy for you to give them our information (particularly our website address baywalk.net) and have them call us.

We have found that to satisfy a client in the long term, and to develop a strong value for the customer, he or she has to do a little homework before jumping in and asking us to design their website. Like your doctor, lawyer, and accountant, we want to be your trusted advisor who helps with customized solutions. In order to do that, we need your referral to make the effort to call us. That alone helps qualify a lead, particularly in the referral's mind as they are actively seeking a service and not simply receiving a sales call. In the end, it saves both of us time.

Example:
If your friend was sick, would you ask your doctor to call her? If your client needed his taxes done, would you ask your accountant to call him? No - you would give them the professional's contact information and tell your referral to call the professional.

Should a referral prospect look at your website before calling you?
Absolutely. On our website they will be able to see all our prices, read our value offering, and most importantly look at sites that we have done for other customers. For prospects who don't need everything that we offer, there will likely be more cost effective solutions, including do-it-yourself template based websites.

Should a referral prospect comparison shop?
Absolutely. If someone hasn't done a bit of comparison shopping, how will they know if a website that they need should cost $500, $4,000, or $10,000 or more?

In conclusion:
We welcome your referral's call, and we appreciate your thinking of us. You may have heard the saying, clients hire web designers (not web design firms) and they hire web designers they know and trust. Becoming well known is fairly straightforward through building many websites over the years, and advertising. Doing good work and doing it on time is a proven way to build trust.

Please note that a good web design firm won't try to take on every project. They know that there are projects they have to decline for various reasons. They could be over-booked or facing a go-live deadline. Or simply the website requirements may be out of their area of expertise, making it take longer to get the project done. The project may not be cost effective because it requires additional programmers or designers, or the project needs a dedicated server or specialized software to get the job done that makes the project too expensive. Occasionally a firm will decline a project if they feel that the prospect isn't serious, is hesitant about price, or is simply trying to get multiple bids.

For prospects who don't need everything that a full-service firm offers, then there will likely be more cost effective solutions, including do-it-yourself template based websites.

After years of experience, we have realized that it doesn't make sense for us to "make a sales pitch". We do invite you to look at the hundred plus websites we have designed since 1998, and see if that is something you like. Check out our prices and our value offering. And check out the competition - many people do websites. You should be satisfied that we are providing the best value for your requirements.

Thank you for your referral!
